The complete STR turnover cleaning checklist
A room-by-room short-term rental turnover checklist for a consistent, guest-ready reset between stays.

A dependable turnover checklist does more than list cleaning tasks. It establishes the order of work, protects the arrival window and makes the final result easier to verify across every property.
Before the clean begins
Confirm checkout, check-in, access, parking and property-specific notes before anyone enters the unit. Flag same-day windows and known maintenance concerns so the team can plan the sequence.
- Confirm access codes and keys
- Review guest departure notes
- Check linen and supply requirements
- Record any pre-existing issue
Reset every guest-facing room
Work from high-touch and high-visibility areas toward the finishing details. Kitchens and bathrooms usually require the most inspection time; bedrooms and living areas establish the arrival presentation.
- Sanitize kitchen and bathroom surfaces
- Reset beds with clean, matched linens
- Dust, vacuum and mop throughout
- Return décor and amenities to standard
Close the operational loop
A turnover should surface what cleaning alone cannot solve. Low inventory, damaged items and maintenance problems need a clear path to the operator before arrival.
- Count critical consumables
- Flag damage and maintenance issues
- Separate lost-and-found items
- Confirm doors, windows and thermostats
Perform a guest-ready final check
Inspect from the entry door as a guest would. Confirm presentation, scent, lighting and the inconsistencies that are easy to miss while cleaning.
- Photograph required completion points
- Remove cleaning materials and waste
- Check lighting and visible streaks
- Confirm the property is locked and ready
